Russian Revolution has broken through for a maiden win at the highest level this afternoon; leading home stable mate Redzel to be crowned The Galaxy winner at Rosehill Gardens.
Russian Revolution was a resounding favourite and the clear market mover to win The Galaxy and the colt did his chances of success no harm when jumping well and taking an ideal position in transit on the heels of early leaders Miss Promiscuity, Jungle Edge and Redzel.
Offered a clear line upon arriving at the final straight, the Snitzel colt required the entire length of the Rosehill Gardens straight to overtake his stable mate, but bobbed his head at the right time to record the win; Jungle Edge maintaining to the line for third.
Co-trainer Paul Snowden was on hand for Russian Revolutionâs win in The Galaxy and was thrilled that the horse was still able to salute after casting a plate at the barriers.
âItâs very frustrating when you see one do that because you know what can happen,â Snowden said of the less-than-ideal lead-in to The Galaxy.
âItâs ended well so who cares.
âWe knew that the weight was going to kick in at some stage and obviously it was late in the final 100 yards. Thatâs the only difference probably at the end of the day, the pull in the weights.
âBoth horses have run terrific and we couldnât have asked for anything better.
âHe threw the rider yesterday, nearly threw her again this morning so heâs been ready to go the last 24 hours, heâs been so full of himself.
âAnything that could go happen did go wrong, but weâve got away with it. This will tone him down now and weâll be fine.â
Jungle Edge was prominent throughout The Galaxy and undoubtedly secured his best result to date in finishing third, while fellow outsider Glenall was brave to the line to finish fourth.
Topweights Music Magnate, Fell Swoop, English and Big Money were never in contention and tailed off to finish towards the rear of The Galaxy field.
